Food and sustainability from Portugal
On 17th June 2025, the 4th grade students at Escola Básica de Cruz D’Argola (Agrupamento de Escolas Santos Simões) participated in a partnership activity between the Erasmus+ project ”Shaping the Future: Environmental Education and Aesthetics” (SAFE) and the Eco Schools Program, once again.
The teachers Carla Teixeira (Eco Schools coordinator) and Marina Freitas (SAFE project coordinator at our school) led the children to an activity about food and sustainability.
With a variety of food/ drinks to choose from, the children, organised into groups, selected a balanced menu for breakfast and lunch/ dinner and wrote them down in a worksheet.
Then, they participated in a presentation and debate about what a healthy diet is and how they can have it while taking into account the sustainability of our planet.
At the end, they summarised their conclusions in the worksheet and in a graphic presentation.
